Competitors start at 1000 points, and lose 5 points per word error and 1 point per performance error. After giving all the parts required in a Level, a competitor earns proficiency if his final score is above the minimum requirement for that Level. He must perform all the required parts at one evaluation.
Example: A competitor is trying for Level 2. He makes 20 word errors and 7 performance errors in the 3 Preceptors. He makes 25 word errors and 4 performance errors in the obligations. That is a total of 45 word errors and 11 performance errors, for a total score of 1000-225-11 = 764 points. He meets proficiency for Level 2.
A competitor may not skip Levels; to qualify for Level 3, for example, he must have completed Level 2 successfully. A maximum of 25 points may be lost because of performance errors for Levels 1, 2, and 3 (no limit for Levels 4/5). Evaluations will take place at Sports Weekend, Convention, and Winterfest.
